Last year, EMEL decided to put the spotlight on hunger and partnered with Charity Right, an international food aid non-profit organization and as well as BEN’S INDEPENDENT GROCER (B.I.G.), DS BORNEO, and THE GOOD SHOP to collect funds and food aid worth RM70,000 to support 40 families in Perlis for the entire year 2018.
The partners’ objective is to help underprivileged families and individuals by providing meals and take-home food rations for the entire family. The goal is that these food rations motivate the kids’ parents to keep their kids in school and get proper education.
On the 19th January 2018, the charity partners along with Charity Right travelled up north to Perlis for the official handover ceremony which took place in SK Padang Besar, Kuala Perlis.
The ceremony was officiated by HRH Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Raja Puan Muda Perlis HRH Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shareen Akashah Khalil, Mohd Ridzal Sheriff (Charity Right), Zurin bin Wok Nordin (Charity Right), Adeline Tang (DS Borneo), Happy Tang (DS Borneo), Eena Khalil Lim (The Good Shop) and a group of media representatives. This event marked the monthly first food aid delivery with consequent food aid rations for the rest of year 2018 to be managed and monthly delivered by Charity Right.
